What's the rationale behind the G-F swap?

More hand separation from less usage of middle column (depending on corpus). Gives more opportunities for alt fingering f-t with index-middle. Similar to the m-n bigram on the other hand. The g-f swap also scores better in analyzers with less distance travelled. The position of F being similar to that of QWERTY may make for an easier transition when changing layouts.

Why has the Q been moved back to the left side?

The wide mod has been tested with and without the q-; swap. Q on the left side does better on wide mod in tests with frequent punctuation. If the Q remained on the right side then the commonly used apostrophe key would have to be moved more to the right, further increasing finger-travel distance. Q on the right side is generally better for typing more complex words while Q on the left is best suited for texts containing lots of punctuation.

Angle Mod

The angle mod aims to reduce awkward wrist movements by shifting z, x and c one step to the left. This makes typing more symmetrical. For more information check out the BigBag.

ANSI keyboards do not have the backslash key in between the left shift and z. The z key is instead moved to the QWERTY B position while x and c are still moved to the left.

Mod-SQ

Mod-SQ (Slash Quote) is a mod that switches the ' and / keys. It further reduces same finger bigrams, especially while typing quotes or text that make frequent use of punctuation. It also reduces load on the pinky finger by relocating the commonly used apostrophe to the e column.
